Krishna Das
Krishna Das
Now that I shall soon
be leaving,
I look at the world
with different eyes.
No longer the drawn out
sequence of things—
leaves of summer
cascading into fall,
snow blanketing the mountains
one by one,
infinite progression.
Rather the moment itself,
its intimate complexity.
Krishna Das
sends my blood
rushing to my heart,
my loins.
Is this not enough?

About the "Third Eye" or Ajna Chakra
An inquiry has been received (on another site) as to whether or not it was possible for someone to "accidentally" trigger a transfer of energy via the "third eye" or ajna chakra, leading to Kundalini arousal. Dr. Lawrence Edwards, a recognized authority on such matters, replied as follows:
If by “accidental” one means that the ego mind didn’t intend for it to happen, then yes, there can be “accidental” shaktipat. But from the perspective of the One from whom shaktipat flows, there is never such an accident. I don’t know if this person received shaktipat or some lesser form of transmission or initiation. Most people use the term shaktipat indiscriminately, reflecting their lack of discernment. There are many levels and forms of diksha, initiation, transmission that aren’t shaktipat with Kundalini awakening. Awakening of Kundalini can occur at different levels, the classic ones being the muladhara chakra, the anahata chakra and the ajna chakra. I don’t know why she thinks it came from someone’s ajna chakra, or what that something is that she thinks came from their ajna chakra. There are psychic siddhis or powers that a person can develop to transmit energy from the 3rd eye/ajna chakra. It is a lesser power and doesn’t result in Kundalini awakening though it can have a powerful impact on the person receiving the energy. Someone could develop such powers and not have much control over them so that they can have all kinds of unintended consequences.

Kundalini and the Paradigm Shift
Kundalini and the Paradigm Shift
Someone has pointed out that global awakening to Kundalini consciousness has in fact not taken place as Gopi Krishna and others predicted. Although there are scattered reports of such transformation occurring here and there, no universal shift of awareness appears to have occurred.
Does this mean that no such shift will occur? or indeed is not occurring even now? Perhaps the commentator is not in touch with the many movements toward paradigm shift occurring all around us now. Perhaps he is not giving credit to the fact that such global transformations will not occur instantaneously, but rather incrementally over a space of time.
In "Mysticism and the New Physics," Michael Talbot mentions that Willis Harmon asserts that we are moving from the belief that the "basic stuff of the universe is matter-energy" to a view that the "ultimate stuff of the universe is consciousness."
Although Talbot essentially agrees with Harmon, he adds that, although a shift is occurring, such a change will take some time.
"Living things resist precipitous transformation. Organic things--from cellular organisms to the belief systems that take root in the fertile soil of our thoughts--prefer homeostasis."
"When one wants to train the trunk of a miniature bonsai tree to turn in a new direction, one cannot simply bend it in that direction all at once or the trunk will break. One must wrap the trunk with wire and slowly, ever so slowly, shape it in small increments. Only then can it survive the stress."
Both Harmon and Talbot are speaking about a "shift in consciousness," and Kundalini is itself is at the heart of such a shift. It involves more than a change of perspective or outlook. Consciousness is transformed to such an extent that the participant literally experiences the world in a new way, as the nervous system and heart are refashioned into a new configuration. This process can take significant time, even years to accomplish
The process of evolution, like most radical transformations, does not necessarily occur through a sudden leap onto a new level of existence. Rather, it is attained through an infinite series of small changes, producing, ultimately, virtually a new species, one in which mind and heart operate together in a novel accord.
When we look about us, it is as if humanity were moving in a kind of "parade" into the future. Some are at the head, already undergoing intense transformation into new forms of being. Some are following in the middle, dabbling in the new (and sometimes old in the sense of ancient wisdom traditions) culture, experiencing a bit of change from time to time, but still essentially loyal to the familiar patterns. Others are totally stuck in the previous paradigm, where science and rationality reigned supreme, with no tolerance for more mystical perspectives.
It is up to us who have had our lives turned upside down, totally transformed by sudden or gradual change, to act as the "leaven" for the birth of the new age, for we are the "forerunners" with a special responsibility to demonstrate in our lives the possibilities for what lies ahead for our society and our planet.

"The Cautious Poet"--poem by Dorothy
The Cautious Poet
The voice said,
if you want to be admitted
to the established poets’ club,
don’t try to go too far,
don’t stretch yourself
until you break,
and, whatever you do,
don’t pretend you know something
that the others don’t know.
Shove you experience to the back
of the line.
No one else has been where you went,
so why should they believe you?
Struggle your way
up to the door,
but never go through.
Give yourself a peek
at the other side
from time to time,
but don’t pretend
that you actually
arrived somewhere.
Stand there, waiting,
for what may seem eons,
to do other would be an act
of pride.
Yes, that flash of light
left you in a heap of dust,
but perhaps if you are careful,
no one will notice.

Sufis in Trance (poem by Dorothy)
Sufis in Trance
Now it is almost end of May
and nothing we can do
will bring back winter.
For months,
we lived inside
and monitored the distant
mountains--
their slow embrace of snow
and occasional flashes
of sun—copper coins
flung against the wind,
bright reflections
of who we want to be.
Today, waiting for
the spring storm
to arrive,
the trees are tossing
their hair
like Sufis in trance,
or waves in a frenzy
of attack against the
stolid rocks
of the shore.
Who will we be next year,
when the snows
come back again?

Andrew Harvey on the internet on Tuesday afternoon, May 27 (free)
I listened to Andrew's talk this morning on the telephone, and it was terrific. Whether or not you resonate with discussion about "Christ Consciousness," this presentation has much new material to offer and should not offend anyone. I urge you to listen to the repeat broadcast as listed below. It will give you much to think about.
For me, the experience was like a transmission--on my way walking over to the grocery store, everything and everyone looked luminous--and I smelled wondrous odors several times, even when I was doing my shopping.
Dear Dorothy Walters,
Truly breathtaking!
We just wrapped up the "Living Christ Consciousness" call with Andrew Harvey and he blew everyone away with the fiery stream of love-wisdom pouring through him.
On the call, Andrew gifted us with his powerfully new vision of Jesus and the Christ Path that peels away historical distortions to reveal the holy core.
From the role of the dark feminine to enacting the sacred marriage to birthing the Christ child in us there were so many priceless pearls of wisdom about how we can begin to transform our understanding of the Christ path and truly live Christ consciousness in our daily lives.
If you weren't able to attend the live call, you can join us for the special encore on Tuesday, May 27th, at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern.
Call in Details:
Dial (425) 440-5100 and enter the PIN 862166#
Or join us on the webcast at http://instantteleseminar.com/?eventid=55276419
During the 60-minute call, Andrew also shared some exciting news!
He officially announced his upcoming 9-month in-depth virtual training - which was created due to popular demand: The Christ Path Advanced Intensive, which we believe is the most rigorous, powerful, and initiatory Christ training ever available online.
In this Advanced Practicum, Andrew will guide you through a profound and illuminating rite of passage into a wholly new consciousness and way of being. The training will be highly experiential, oriented to making Christ consciousness real in your life.
While we initially created this with Andrew to deepen his work with more than 1000 graduates of The Christ Path introductory course, we realized this work is SO important that it needs to be available widely. So we've bundled ALL of the teachings from The Christ Path foundational course into this advanced program - at a discount - so you can undertake the full journey.
Learn all about it here: The Christ Path Advanced Intensive
Here at The Shift Network, we couldn't be more ecstatic that Andrew has decided to collaborate with us on this truly groundbreaking training, because we know that this EXACTLY the kind of transformational work that the world needs right now.
Regardless of whether you take this advanced training or not, I encourage you to take the time to listen to Andrew's important message by joining us for the encore on Tuesday.

Patricia at the Detroit electronic music festival
My friend Patricia Lay- Dorsey (the photographer) loves electronic music. Each year she goes to the electronic music festival in Detroit, which attracts thousands of participants. She has become famous with this crowd of young dancers as "GrannyTechno," and they eagerly seek to have their pictures taken with her while the music plays and the dancers sway. The festival is a celebration of love, and the dancers love her as much as she loves them.
The video below is about Patricia, her life and philosophy, and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. It appeared on YouTube and quickly went viral. It has been seen by over 30,000 viewers. Patricia appears at her best here, a wise "wise woman" indeed. Her legacy? "Live life to the fullest. Let each moment count."

Poem by Jan Elvee
Don't be a Google
Don't be a google.
Don't tell me what you know.
Tell me rather about the morning
your soul surprised you
nuzzling your neck sweetly
before running, wild, back into the thicket, leaving you
weeping with joy and loss.

"Flooding and Blind" (poem by Dorothy)
Flooding and Blind
(Dedicated to all who have had sudden, unexpected awakening)
The problem is that
before,
we did not pretend to
know anything,
just measured groping in
the dark,
occasional glimpses
of a dimming light,
music distantly heard.
Then, after the event,
we did know,
not with words
but with feeling,
bliss flooding and blind,
carrying us where
there was no real evidence
that could be proved,
only the mute testimony
of the blood.

"After"--Poem by Dorothy
I received this e-mail from Ivan Granger's Poetry Chaikhana:
Here's your Daily Poem from the Poetry Chaikhana --
After
By Dorothy Walters
(1928 - )
There is one thing certain.
Once you have stood
in the midst of that
searing flame,
been struck down
to earth
like a pilgrim
entered by light at last
and have lain there,
waiting,
not quite certain --
how can you ever know again
what it is
not to be blinded by the light,
never to have gone there
to the top of the snow hung peak
and felt that nameless something
descend onto your shoulders,
your breast,
even as you bent forward
in disbelief.

Thought for the Day:
by Ivan M. Granger
The ego is a personal myth,
a story we tell ourselves
about who we are.
That story can change, expand,
or grow silent.
============
Hi Dorothy -
Hold onto your doubt, if it serves you. Keep questioning even in the moment of your most radical transformation.
Once you have stood
in the midst of that
searing flame,
been struck down
to earth
like a pilgrim
entered by light at last
and have lain there,
waiting,
not quite certain --
But don't think your disbelief can trump the reality you now see and know.
how can you ever know again
what it is
not to be blinded by the light...
It may not fit our world view, it may not fit our religion, and we know all too well our foolish failings, yet still there is this flood of light eager to burst forth within us and overturn all our rock-solid understanding.
and felt that nameless something
descend onto your shoulders,
your breast,
even as you bent forward
in disbelief.

Dorothy Walters, Ph. D., spent many years as a university professor of English and Women's Studies. During that time she helped to set up one of the first women's studies programs in the country and was active in the early feminist and gay liberation movements. In l981 she experienced a dramatic spiritual transformation through spontaneous Kundalini awakening, an event that put her in close contact with the feminine divine. Since then, she has focused on writing prose and poetry about the spiritual journey, much of it inspired by Rumi, and helping others undergoing similar deep inner transformation. She has published several books of both prose and poetry relating to the mystic path and publishes a blog at www.kundalinisplendor.blogspot.com
She wrote of her Kundalini initiation in Unmasking the Rose. She has several collections of poetry, including Ley Lines of the Soul, Marrow of the Flame, A Cloth of Fine Gold, and, most recently, Penelope's Loom. She also contributed to Kundalini Rising: Exploring the Energy of Awakening.
Dorothy Walters lives and writes in Colorado.

Jeanne Lohman--poem--To Say Nothing but Thank You
To Say Nothing But Thank You
All day I try to say nothing but thank you,
breathe the syllables in and out with every step I
take through the rooms of my house and outside into
a profusion of shaggy-headed dandelions in the garden
where the tulips’ black stamens shake in their crimson cups.
I am saying thank you, yes, to this burgeoning spring
and to the cold wind of its changes. Gratitude comes easy
after a hot shower, when my loosened muscles work,
when eyes and mind begin to clear and even unruly
hair combs into place.
Dialogue with the invisible can go on every minute,
and with surprising gaiety I am saying thank you as I
remember who I am, a woman learning to praise
something as small as dandelion petals floating on the
steaming surface of this bowl of vegetable soup,
my happy, savoring tongue.

"Mindful"--poem by Mary Oliver
Mindful
Every day
I see or hear
something
that more or less
kills me
with delight,
that leaves me
like a needle
in the haystack
of light.
It was what I was born for -
to look, to listen,
to lose myself
inside this soft world -
to instruct myself
over and over
in joy,
and acclamation.
Nor am I talking
about the exceptional,
the fearful, the dreadful,
the very extravagant -
but of the ordinary,
the common, the very drab,
the daily presentations.
Oh, good scholar,
I say to myself,
how can you help
but grow wise
with such teachings
as these -
the untrimmable light
of the world,
the ocean's shine,
the prayers that are made
out of grass?

Poem from an Aboriginal Poet
Forever Oneness,
who sings to us in silence,
who teaches us through each other.
Guide my steps with strength and wisdom.
May I see the lessons as I walk,
honor the Purpose of all things.
Help me touch with respect,
always speak from behind my eyes.
Let me observe, not judge.
May I cause no harm,
and leave music and beauty after my visit.
When I return to forever
may the circle be closed
and the spiral be broader.

Traditional Meditation and Kundalini
http://www.samharris.org/blog/item/taming-the-mind
If you go to the above site, you will find a "high level" discussion, mostly from Dan Harris, who helps anchor Nightline and also appears on Good Morning America. As the link suggests, the discussion focuses on how "meditation" focuses the mind, helps to dispel the illusion of a separate, ego-centered self, and improves health and outlook. He is in conversation with Sam Harris, noted agnostic/author, who has written such books as "The End of Faith" and "Letter to a Christian Nation." He is CEO of an organization devoted to spreading secular values through society.
This discussion is highly sophisticated and will challenge all but the most intellectually adept reader--the concepts it presents are not new, but neither are they (I believe) truly comprehensible if one has not had the experiences they describe. The technique discussed is called "mindfulness meditation," and doubtless this approach has helped many over the years--today many thousands follow this practice, and surely they would not continue if they did not find the method productive.
Frankly, I have never truly understood why this form of meditation is so appealing to so many. I think my primary concern is that it does not (in any deep sense) take into account the body as a source of pure delight--and as for bliss--forget it. Bliss, ecstasy, rapture--these terms never enter the discussion. Nor does physical movement or such stimuli as music, so often effective triggers of bliss states.
Many years ago, not long after my Kundalini opening, I was persuaded to try Transcendental Meditation. Following the direction of my "inner guru," I had been having morning sessions of simply contemplating certain (inner) images of the deity, such as Shiva and Krishna, and this easy form of "meditation" aroused intense inner feelings of delight--pure ecstasy at that time. Once I left off that simple visual practice and substituted a "mantra" (assigned to me by my T. M. teacher), the bliss flows ceased and soon I was suffering massive headaches (migraine). As someone noted, it was as if a lid had been placed on a boiling pot. I had promised my teacher to continue this meditation for six months, and I grimly continued to repeat my unwelcome mantra each morning. Finally, when my doctor proclaimed that obviously I had a brain tumor, I felt that enough was enough and I ceased to perform this disturbing rite. A brain scan revealed that I did not have a brain tumor, and I went back to my earlier process.
Again, I should note that doubtless many have profited from the form of meditation taught as T. M., but obviously it was not the right choice for me.
I feel that neither of these discussants has ever "felt god in the blood", the most convincing experience of the reality of a divine source. Until that happens, seekers are thrown back on mental approaches of one sort or another (even when they enter "pure consciousness") and are convinced that "what they see and personally experience" comprises ultimate truth.
The end of the mystical path is annihilation into the Beloved. Whether this state can be taught as a goal or intention, I am not sure. I do know that for me union with the Beloved Within is each time a kind of final realization, an ultimate connection that truly tells me "who I am" without words but rather through profound feelings. It involves not a deliberate procedure of quieting the mind, but rather a shift into another state of consciousness, and allowing "it" (somatic bliss) to happen. For me, this is truly "home."
But, as they say, there are many paths up the mountain, but they all converge at the top.

About Stephanie's Animal Sanctuary
As many of you know, my dear friend Stephanie Marohn (animal healer and caretaker of many) has moved her sanctuary to eastern California, near Sheep Town (yes, that is the name of the town--the sheep run free through the town and have their own shepherd who cares for their needs). Stephanie uses her own kundalini energies (or the cosmic energies that come through her) to heal animals and to support those in her retreat center. She caters to large farm animals (such as sheep, donkeys, and miniature horses) and has quite a collection at present.
Recently, a tragedy occurred when a mountain lion got into the pen at night and killed one of the sheep. This event caused Stephanie to take the advice of the locals and procure two dogs as guardians of the flock. Here is her account of bringing the puppies back home: (In case you are wondering what this account is doing on a kundalini site, it behooves us to remember that kundalini is in fact the life force itself and runs through our animal friends as well as humans.)

Guardian Puppies
Posted on May 9, 2014 by Stephanie Marohn
Merlion and Daisy
I was not expecting the next arrivals on the sanctuary to be dogs, but the killing of Aurora the sheep by a mountain lion brought about this event. Nor would I have thought I’d ever have outdoor dogs (dogs share houses!), but the tragedy called for some new thinking. It turns out many people up here in the foothills have guardian dogs to protect their sheep and goats, and to do the job right the dogs need to live with their charges. Daisy and Merlion, who are from the same litter, are a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian shepherd cross, two of the most common livestock guardian breeds.
I was struck from the first by how positive they are. They go happily through their days, taking all the changes in stride. On the ride home from the ranch where they were born, just a few miles from me, they were a little nervous at first, but then Daisy put her paws
on my shoulder and tucked her head into my neck, and all was well. I drove with one arm around her, marveling at this rapid bonding. When I got out of the truck to open the gate at home, they stood on the seat, wagging their tails. No sooner were they out of the truck, then they were trotting along at my heels. Clearly, they didn’t need to learn that I was their person!
Daisy’s name arrived long before she did. On the day after the mountain lion tragedy, I was standing in the porch area of the barn, putting dinner hay in the feeder for the donkeys. I had just decided that I would get a guardian dog. Suddenly, the name “Daisy” came into my head, almost like a physical flash. Sylphide, who was standing in front of me, startled backward, as though she had seen the flash. I laughed and said, “Yes, isn’t it amazing, Sylphide? We’re getting a dog and I think her name is Daisy.”
When I met the puppies at the ranch, two ran up to me immediately, the only black-faced ones in the group. I asked the one on the left, “Are you Daisy?”
I got a big yes, along with a beaming puppy smile. Her brother’s name did not emerge until a few days after they took up residence on the sanctuary. The name Merlion is a variation of Merlin that means “falcon”—I take it as a good sign that his name has “lion” in it too, both animal totem protection and acknowledgment that we (including mountain lions) are all connected.
I decided to get two instead of one from the eight-puppy litter (it was hard to leave the other six behind!) because Daisy and Merlion seemed to operate as a unit, Daisy was one of only two females in the litter and I wanted a female (figuring she would be more nurturing toward the sheep), I couldn’t imagine keeping one puppy on her own in the barn at night (which is what I was told to do to foster the dog’s bonding with the sheep), and I try to give everyone on the sanctuary a member of their own species as companion. I am so glad I got two, for all those reasons and also because I could never have met the puppies’ wrestling and playing needs!
After a week of encounters in various degrees of closeness, we are gradually settling into the new family arrangement (I’ve had to adjust too, with much animal juggling required). Now Merlion invites the horses to play by grabbing at their tails. So far they haven’t taken him up on his invitation, but I can imagine when he is full size that he and Perseus, who have similarly boisterous temperaments, will have grand romps together.
Beau is leading the sheep in investigating the dogs. Yesterday was an adjustment marker as Beau sniffed at the two puppies napping and they stayed stretched out and simply let him explore.
Daisy and Merlion will go a long way toward protecting the sheep from predators (I have told the donkeys the dogs will be their assistants, which seems to be assuaging their ambivalence about dogs as family members), but I am moving forward on having a 10-foot security fence installed around the barn so the animals don’t have to be shut in stalls at night. I am also clearing brush to remove possible hiding places. Meanwhile, Daisy and Merlion are growing up.

The Sixties, the Planets, and Current Social Changes
An interesting sounding T. V. program is coming up in a few days, with a focus on the sixties and how that era in effect "predicted" the many changes that have occurred in various areas in the intervening years. This was indeed the time of major change--there was a rebellion against the "old ways" of the patriarchy, including the emphasis on "conformity" and following tradition. As the decade progressed and expanded into the following years, we saw the arrival of the Civil Rights movement, the growth of feminism, the increasing acceptance of gays, as well as the emergence of interest in Eastern thought and esoteric spirituality, the arrival of Great Mother consciousness, and many other social/spiritual movements. Although Kundalini was at that time virtually unknown in the West, certain writers kept the growing interest in esoterica alive--writers like Joseph Campbell ("The Hero's Journey"), Carl Jung (especially his work on alchemical transformation), the Seth Books (many of his notions now embraced by cutting edge physics), Eliade on Shamanism, as well as books on astrology, Tarot, Kaballah, telepathic communication, meditation and Eastern practices--the list is long.
All of these nascent interests expanded and now are (for many of us) familiar features of present day society.
And --interestingly--some astrologers today are noting that the planetary alignments at present mimic those of the sixties--notably Uranus/Pluto Squares happening several times in 2012-2015. I am not an astrologer, but I think it is interesting that Uranus and Pluto are "the two major planets of change and transformation." This quote comes from JoyOm, an astrologer and energy/spiritual worker who can be googled to discover her fascinating site on the internet. Joy also says--"We now have a replay of the transformation begun at that time at a higher turn of the spiral...the old will transform, transmute and re-form into the emerging newness...these influences...will disrupt, reveal and elevate the frequencies of consciousness of each chakra."
I think that almost all of us who lived in the sixties (and thereafter) were affected by these social changes. Indeed, our frequencies did change, and many of us transited to a higher level of consciousness--Kundalini being a major example. These were turbulent, yet fascinating times. We became more alive, as if waking up from a cultural trance. We found ourselves exploring realms unknown and becoming "ourselves" in a long forgotten way.
And--here is a somewhat more cautious version of what is to come:

Eric Pearl and the Reconnection
I have just watched a fascinating presentation by Eric Pearl, who practices "The Reconnection" as a healing modality. He is a captivating speaker and demonstrates the effectiveness of his approach by calling up members of the audience who then often leave healed of their afflictions.
Pearl is a nonconformist in his approach. Whereas many healers call upon disembodied spirits (Jesus, archangels, mother-father god and others) to assist them, he does not do so. Furthermore, he insists that technique itself is not helpful--he feels that healing is a gift, not a technique, but--ironically--it can be taught. Once one taps into this healing energy, the gift will remain forever.
Pearl also disdains the notion that the student must return many times to the teacher (and pay still more money) in order to learn the "technique." He insists that only when technique is transcended, will healing take place.
Pearl also avers that the healer needs no special "protection" (such as white or gold light, shaking the hands into water to get rid of negative energies, or saying prayers). He thinks the healing process is a simple experience in which the healer allows his own hands to reach a certain vibration which is then transferred into the client, who spontaneously heals. Interestingly, Perl states that once the healing begins, he feels ecstasy in his hands. I wonder if this is the same ecstasy that we sometimes feel when our Kundalini is aroused through music or movement or other ways. Often we feel this bliss state first in the hands.
Pearl has written a fascinating book about his journey from being a typical chiropractor with a flourishing practice to a healer who suddenly found he could cure patients through the simple approach he describes in this video.

Dr. Claude Swanson
I know that most of you will not be able to attend this lecture, but the topics themselves are very intriguing. Each could deserve a talk in itself. Claude Swanson is one of the most interesting investigators around--coming from a background in science, he is willing to explore the "fringe areas"--those subjects that are obviously real, but which conventional science chooses to ignore.
(I gave him my book, "Unmasking the Rose," so that he could know what it was like to "feel" these subtle energies, as well as see or research them.)

Rapture is fickle
Yesterday I described a morning experience of rapture, as I listened to Beethoven and then Mozart on my internet station. Today I tried to repeat the experience, but my efforts were in vain. The music I heard was lovely--quite pleasurable to hear, but it was almost an "external" experience as opposed to the somatic delight of the previous day. I think we cannot summon our bliss at will (at least when we are long into our experience--these things seem to happen more often in the earlier stages, when the energies are more intense.)
Always, Kundalini remains a mystery. Its true nature, its source, its intention--all of these are unclear. What we know is that it is a perpetual fascination, a source of endless joy and ineffable delight, as well as occasional pain.
I myself still adhere to the notion originally posited by Gopi Krishna--that Kundalini was the driving force leading all of humanity to transition to a new (and higher) plane of consciousness--evolution of the species. I do not think I believe this just because (or in spite of the fact that) others (cults, New Agers, curious prophets of the past) have predicted such an event previously. I do not believe that my conviction is merely another manifestation of an enduring archetype.
All signs point to an ultimate crisis on earth at this time. Already, the scientists are telling us that global warming is no longer an event of the future, but is already with us--witness the strange shift of weather patterns over the last few years. We will, they say, experience even more such catastrophic events--even greater in their effects--in future. Sea levels will rise, tornadoes increase, floods become more frequent. The earth is heating up, and so is the pace of our movement toward a great shift, both physical and spiritual.
I consider it a blessing to be alive at this time of transition from one era to the next. In fact, I believe that this dramatic current of events is why many of us have chosen to be "earthlings" at this moment, even though the demands on us are great.
Rupert Sheldrake posed the notion of a "morphic field"--when enough members of a group share a common experience, it is then easier for those who follow to embody the same experience. I think this is what is happening today with Kundalini awakening. As more and more go through the awakening process, it is easier for those who come after to
undergo the same experience. It is more difficult for the "early arrivers," since the field is not yet fully established. But the later "Kundalini bloomers" should have an easier time, since the field is for them firmly in place.

Kundalini and Beethoven
It came as a surprise. This morning when I meant to call up the weather report for the day (from my bookmarks on the internet), I accidentally hit the entry for the Colorado Public radio station, which happened to be playing a Beethoven piece I am quite fond of--the first Razumotsky string quartet. I have listened to this piece many times, but this time it was a different experience. Each note, each nuance of the piece, stirred the sweet energies within, and, after a long term (several weeks, that is) of "no feeling," the gentle rapture returned, located first literally in my head, then spreading to other parts of the body. As always, these days, it was subtle rather than intense, but totally delightful, nonetheless. I would compare the intensity to having your cheeks stroked by a feather, as the feelings moved from place to place within.
I have no idea why this happened, other than this was early in the day, soon after I woke up, during the time when I generally do my slow movement practice to induce the energies to awaken.
The next piece was Mozart's Symphony #15, written when he was fifteen. I had a similar response to this piece as well.
Whatever the cause, I believe that this is how music (at least this kind of music) is intended to be experienced, as a bodily response of delight--it does not always happen this way--indeed, such reactions are (for me) fairly rare these days and certainly unpredictable, but one is grateful for such unexpected favors.
I wrote in the previous entry about the "glorified body" and indeed I believe that this response is it. Perhaps the angels live in this state constantly, and that is why they are so often depicted with musical instruments. Certainly music can bring us closer to such an exalted condition. Since we are still in a material body, it is as if we--at such times--experience in full consciousness the "divinization of matter" that some have talked about.

Kundalini and the Glorified Body
The notion of a "glorified body" appears primarily in Christian thinking--such as when the resurrected Christ appears in a "glorified body." This notion--of a "body" transformed into a suprahuman state--is also contained in such concepts as "the divinization of matter," which some posit as the end point of human evolution. As humans, we are clearly composed of "matter" and some insist that that is all that we are. Indeed, materialistic science is based on this assumption. However, in certain states of consciousness, we appear to transcend the limits of ordinary "matter" and connect with that which is "higher", closer to a divine reality.
I am prepared to suggest that in the finest moments of Kundalini experience we approach the state of "divinized matter." We are, of course, still in the body, yet the bliss flowing through our bodies tells us that another element is at work, that what is manifesting is "us" and yet more than us. We have reached another less familiar level of existence, indeed as if we were connecting with a divine reality, coming to and through us as fully unconditional love.
The most convincing emblem of this state is St. Teresa in ecstasy, as displayed in Bernini's famous statue. Many wonder how it is that this highly spiritual being appears as if in the throes of sexual bliss, but those who understand the nature of her experience know that what she is feeling is union with the heavenly, non-material realities, and it is they, not an earthly lover, who engage her in total transcendence.
Yet, it is doubtful that even Teresa remained in this state permanently. For the rest of us, we are blessed if we experience occasional glimpses of this high state. Even when it seemingly disappears we continue to recollect it in memory, and know that transcendence, the "divinization of matter," is possible.

Seeing an Eyebeam and Other Matters
I was recently reading a text that mentioned a prediction of a time when communication between persons would be through visual images, rather than words (I have heard that indeed this is the way animals communicate). This passage reminded me of an experience many years ago when I literally saw an eye beam.
I was dozing in my living room chair early in the evening, while my room mate was seated on the couch a few feet away. As I woke, I noticed a beam of light extended in front of me, and I traced it to its origin--her eyes staring straight ahead. I realized that I was literally seeing an "eye beam" such as is referred to often in poetry of the past.
Aristotle posited that the "eye beam" was itself the source of sight, and that notion was accepted until later ages explored the optical basis of sight. However, it makes me think that in Aristotle's time some must have seen the "eye beam", otherwise why would Aristotle have referred to it?
In another text (science fiction) there is a reference to communication between members of some advanced species through light. (I think this is what was meant in my dream of a mirror I referred to last time--the notion being that by blinking the mirror in the sun, the living might communicate with the dead--and this, of course, reminds us of ships at sea who in the past communicated by very powerful blinking lights.)
Well, I have more or less rambled here, but my point was that perhaps eyebeams do indeed exist--today they often appear in computer games, usually in the employment of the forces of darkness who use them for destructive purposes.
Perhaps in future we will be able to use light in some form for communication with others--and will have less need for language. Will we communicate (telepathically) with the dead? Who knows--our capacities continue to expand as we move into higher and higher states of consciousness. And the pace of our expansion accelerates day by day. Perhaps we will be able to "download" a book sent telepathically from the author (or his/her source) directly from one mind to another. Even today we often "download" information of a spiritual nature coming apparently from a "higher" source.
Many think that it is Kundalini itself that is behind all such expanded states--indeed, those who undergo awakening often do receive "special abilities" of this sort.
The picture above has little or no obvious connection with this subject, but I was taken with this photo (from yesterday) of this little fellow and his Elizabethan collar. And since it is Friday, I thought, oh, well, why not post it? His name is Quinn.
But the more I contemplated his picture, the more it seemed an apt metaphor for the way most of us "see"--only what is straight before us, excluding those other realms that remain invisible to all but the most intrepid explorers, those willing to venture out to "parts unknown" and experience that which is "out of bounds" to the majority.

A Healer at Work
Rob is located in Aspen, but he was visiting Boulder and doing a public demonstration, so I went to see how this healer operated and whether I felt that he was authentic.
The evening was, in fact, rather mesmerizing. Rob explained several times that he himself did not do the healing, but was rather the "medium" through which a group of healers on "the other side" did healing work. He said that there were about 18 in this group, but only certain ones would come through at any one time.
He also explained that he had had the ability to heal since childhood--he did nothing to develop it and had no explanation as to why this gift was given to him.
He was a "down to earth" character, who made little jokes along the way (to relieve the tension) and himself burped frequently to "release the energies he picked up from his healing team."
Those who wished to have the healing experience in front of the audience had signed up ahead of time (I was relieved to know I would not be called up, since I would have been far too self conscious to appear publicly in this way). Those who were chosen (all women) presented with an array of symptoms, from psychological issues to life threatening illness. Each was seated on a high stool--he stood behind them and simply placed his hands (obviously under direction) on various places on their bodies. Soon each began to release the inner emotions--some crying, some wailing, some shouting. After a time, he asked how they felt, and all said they felt much better.
I was happy that I was able to witness the proceedings without picking up the negative symptoms in my own body. Previously, I often would simply mirror whatever the subject was experiencing (typical of clairesentients, those who "feel" the energies of other people or objects).
Whatever happened, the session certainly provided intense release of deeply held emotional tensions, and this in itself clearly contributed to a sense of healing. Whether any actual permanent healing took place, I have no idea. But the subjects certainly looked better, and were much happier when they finished.
As for me, I felt "refreshed" by observing the session. Rob had explained that those in the audience would also benefit from the healing energies, and that the group spirit would help the healing process of the subjects.
His only requirement from them was that they surrender to the moment and allow the healing to occur.
He will return to Boulder on May 21 and do another public demonstration. Here is his contact info and website (he also does long distance healing.) The website includes a video of Rob at work.
