The Heron Listening

The Heron Listening
The Mystic reels, yes,
from passion to passion,
plummets
from one discovered
radiance to the next.
The heron listening
at the edge of the water,
flame of whiteness,
purity translucent, unstained.
The deer peering curiously
from forest darkness,
delicate observer,
wonder lit
by caution.
Pebbles flung
into the random
light
of a mountain stream,
colors flowing
like melting lapis
shot with gold.. .
Any small thing,
insignificant token
is enough,
sufficient
for the moment
to unmask.
