I am a Yogi––Poem by Dorothy

I am a Yogi

Always there is a new experience,
surprise upon surprise,
opening upon opening,
how can I describe it?

I have a name for it.
Subtle, subtle yoga.
It is not done
on the floor.
It does not involve
twisting and turning
the body into
prescribed positions.

It demands acceptance,
a letting go,
inflow of that which
almost no one
has described
or experienced.

This morning,
a new level.
Energy that is sweet and soft
and subtle.
Accessed by acutely slow movement.
And concentration.
It does not matter which way
the body moves.
As long it is indescribably
slow,
a movie ramped down
to its lowest pace,
slow motion enacted.

Who? saw golden flame
everywhere
and sewed the words
into his coat?
Now this another new and rawest
experience,
unknown frequencies coming in,
preparation for the next stage,
when the physical body
no longer matters,
when we are pure energy,
light bodies of love,
acting in pure bliss,
delicate ecstasy,
a new being.
Every cell and pore
and tendon,
each bone and sinew
and covering,
all transfigured,
dissolved,
into the new creation.

Ineffable joy.
Bliss of the spirit.

Can you move so slow?
What are these delicate
sensations moving
through you, everywhere?
Can anyone tell you
what this is?

"Lockdown"––poem by Fr. Richard Hendrick, OFM

Lockdown

FR. RICHARD HENDRICK, OFM

Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
But,
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighbourhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary
All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
Sing.

Turn Me to Gold

Turn Me to Gold

              Kabir

Turn me to gold,
but first make of me
a pile of dust
hugging the sidewalk
where the people
pass by.

A puddle of water
left by the rain,
waiting its turn
to rush into the oblivion
of the drain.

A spiral of light
traced by the Sufi
who danced so recently
just here,
lost in his oneness
with all that is.

When I am ready,
perfectly still,
turn me to gold,
luminous vessel
of the spreading sun.

Control––Poem by Dorothy

Control

If you try to control it,
you are like a lion tamer
controlling the beast,
but the beast subdued
is still ready to spring
at unexpected moments.

You will feel proud
of yourself,
gratified that you
are master
of such a jungle
creature.
You can brag and strut,
teach others your method
of being in charge,
but you are never in charge,
really,
for all comes through
in a different dialect,
another language
that only a few can
speak or understand.

Stand on the street corner
and shout "Love"
and see who answers.
Listen to your own
inner voice echoing.
Follow it.
That is the way
students are chosen
in this school.

The Secret––poem by Dorothy

The Secret

If you think
that the Secret
can be said or written
in words,
or given away in
a workshop,
you are like a bear
looking for honey
in a dead tree.

Or a treasure seeker
wandering forth
with the wrong map
and no water.

The Secret speaks itself
at midnight
under a full moon.
But not in words.
The Secret arrives
in your body
when you are least
expecting it.
No rulers or scales
can measure it.
No verses
can capture it.
The Secret
is yours, and yours alone.
You will know it
when it comes.

Some call it bliss.
Others speak of
rapture.
It is more than joy.
It is the way
you communicate
with the Vast Other,
the Source of All.
It is how you know
you are alive.

Jeff Carreira––free workshop next Saturday––Reconfigure your life

Hi Dorothy,

Next Saturday you are invited to join me for a free two-hour workshop called 'Embracing the Opportunity of Unprecedented Times'.

In this workshop I want to share with you what I am feeling about the wide-open possibilities that are available to us right now.

Embracing the Opportunity of Unprecedented Times :
A FREE Life Re-Visioning Workshop
with Jeff Carreira
Saturday, May 23rd, 2020
11:00 am to 1:00pm US Eastern Time
This workshop is offered free of charge.

Human life is held together with the binding energy contained in the deep personal and cultural habits that live through us.

Transformation always involves disrupting these habits and establishing new ones.

Right now, because of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, layer upon layer of ingrained personal and cultural habits have been disrupted.

We are all living through so much insecurity right now because no one knows what is going to happen. So many questions cannot be answered by anyone.

In the midst of the pain, hardship, and fear, we can reflexively want to get back to normal as quickly as we can.

But in this workshop I want to invite you into a different possibility.

Let’s use the freedom of uncertainty to reconfigure our lives. Let’s not go back to the way things were, let’s make our lives better than they were.

In this workshop you will:

Recognize and experience the energy of liberation that is currently available to us.
Listen for the faint but unmistakable sound of the future that is calling you.
Learn how to relax old habits and open your inner vision to radical possibilities.
Take a crucial first step into a life that is deeply aligned with who you really are.

This two-hour workshop will include practices, exercises and contemplations.

View Workshop Details and Register Here

I really hope you can make it.

And if you cannot make it live, please register anyway to receivethe recording.
Sincerely,
Jeff Carreira

Kabir––"Truth" (tr. Andrew Harvey)

Kabir––"Truth"
(tr. Andrew Harvey)

Truth,
that astute warrior,
shot and wounded me.
From my feet to my head;
From outside, I seem whole;
Inwardly, I'm torn to shreds.

(This brief little poem from Kabir (15th century Indian mystic poet) expresses most succinctly the dilemma of the one who is "awakened" and thus is "torn to shreds" in her heart and mind, but appears to be untouched to the outside world.)  Kabir saw through the "cultural trance" and spoke out against the shams and corruption of his time.  We need him today.)

Energy Healer from Java

The power of chi:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Se8fq3KEd20

This video is indeed mind blowing.  Shows the amazing power of chi when a great master uses it.

I had heard that chi could light fires.  Now I have seen it happen.  This man later has refused to be filmed at all.  (His dead master told him that he had broken his vow of secrecy by allowing this public filming.)  This video demonstrates how little we really know about our own potential energy for healing and for being in touch with the magical power of chi.)

Mother Wakes Up––poem by Dorothy

Mother Wakes Up

So I must ask,
what would you do
if, some afternoon,
when you were ironing
or mending your husband's clothes
(do people still mend clothes?
Or do they just throw them away
and buy new ones, everybody seems
to have so much money these days),
or practicing for your church choir
(do people still sing in choirs,
or is everything piped in?)––
well, whatever it is you are doing––
and suddenly, everything gets interrupted
by a strange and wonderful feeling
and finally someone explains to you
that you are having ecstasy,
whatever that is,
you have no idea,
but how you love it as
it makes you feel connected, somehow,
to something much larger, vaster,
more real
than anything you have ever imagined,
only no one knows really
what this is,
where it is coming from,
why it is entering you,
of all people,
like something you may have read about
in a book somewhere
until you put down your iron
or your needle
and surrender to whatever it is,
something soft and sweet
and beautiful
almost like god himself
(or is it herself these days)
coming in
and yes, for a fact,
like god the invisible
making love to you inside
only now you don't really care
who this lost lover is,
you just want more,
and then more,
and then all,
as much as you can take,
even if you  burn an iron image
on the clothes,
even if the children must go to school
with holes in their sweaters,
even if nothing matters, ever again,
but this, this ineffable feeling
that is more you than anything
you ever felt before.
