Impatient (poem by N. M. Rai)
Impatient
I am impatient as always
wanting the high notes
that curl of the sun
on my tongue
that flare of heat inside
I resist the damp green
of leaves, the slide of mud
along the path
the dailiness of days
even though I know
snail shells are
constructions of wonder
