Poem by Jane Green

Jane Green is a wonderful poet and dear friend. Her poem reminds us that life contains not only its own ecstatic moments, but serious confrontations as well.

In Open Prayer

Jane Green

In open prayer
A woman in church
Mentioned her friend
Who loses her battle
With ancient cancer
All I could think was
That was no battle
Not even defeat
But a ready body
For a blaze of homecoming
With the womb of light
When the eternal beckons
With the quick threshold
We each wander into
When the body says ready
