Blessing the Roses
Blessing the Roses
But it doesn't need to be
something so elegant,
so luscious,
even a small plant
with bristles on it
will do,
or the scruff
on the side
of a mountain trail.
Yesterday,
a small cloud
drifted by
ornamenting the blue
space surrounding where it hung
and I saluted it,
gave it my blessing,
made it my
prayer shawl for the day.
