Almost Dawn (poem)
Almost Dawn
Almost dawn.
Once again,
you slipped in
while I was sleeping,
now you are demanding more.
What else can I give you?
My heart was the first to go.
When I heard your voice
I fainted and fell down dumb.
Each time you trembled through me,
you with no body,
no name,
a flame lit where I stood,
until I became a shadow,
a wraith consumed in fire.
Do you want these ashes?
Come,
hold out your hand.
We are mingled here
together
always.
