The Mirror (poem by Dorothy)
The Mirror:
(The Poet Reflects on her Work)
I am not going to gush or mewl.
They will not say, “She did not
probe deep enough
into life’s exigencies,
the shadow that always
lurks
beneath the surface,
like the silver underside
of the mirror,
hidden but essential.”
Let it be more like
the tumulus
of an ancient Irish king,
waiting untouched for
centuries,
at last noticed,
resurrected,
revealing its
many layers
of lost imagining.
