What I Now Perceived (poem by Dorothy)
What I now perceived
Until I perceived it, no thing was complete.
Rilke
So, what was it
I was looking for then.
Like entering a room
to find an object,
then forgetting
what it was
I came to find,
only odor of roses
clinging.
When I encountered the ultimate,
I thought searching
was over.
Everything complete
at last,
nothing more required.
Then I met one
who took apart
my theories,
my notions of who I was
crumbled around me
like walls of ancient cities
assaulted by time,
again I became
a captive of longing,
of seeking
what I now perceived.
