I Gave You my Life
(These are the beautiful flowers that Patricia sent to me on my birthday, which was yesterday. I received many delightful cards and phone calls throughout the day, but only Patricia sang Happy Birthday--thank goodness.)
I Gave You my Life
I gave You
my life, my mind,
my place in the world.
Now I am wondering
what else I might have
to give.
Meanwhile You sit there
smiling.
I am trying to smile
back,
in the midst of this
silence,
the only thing
I have left.
