The "She Church" in San Francisco
Recently, I spent two weeks in San Francisco, where I lived until three years ago. Among the many things I did there was to visit a special church, nominally a Lutheran church, but now renamed (informally) as the "She Church." This church is totally devoted to the divine feminine, represented by its "liturgy," services and overall focus. Men do attend, but the primary emphasis is on the feminine and the female.
Here is a revised version of what most of us know as "the Lord's Prayer":
Our Mother who is within us,
we celebrate your many names.
Your wisdom come,
Your will be done,
unfolding from the depths within us.
Each day you give us all that we need.
You remind us of our limits and we let go.
You support us in our power
and we act with courage.
For you are the dwelling place within us,
the empowerment around us,
and the celebration among us.
Now and for ever. Amen.
(Should you wish to visit this church, the name on its literature is: "Ebenezer/HERCHURCH Lutheran. It is located on Portola Avenue.)
