"Flooding and Blind" (poem by Dorothy)
Flooding and Blind
(Dedicated to all who have had sudden, unexpected awakening)
The problem is that
before,
we did not pretend to
know anything,
just measured groping in
the dark,
occasional glimpses
of a dimming light,
music distantly heard.
Then, after the event,
we did know,
not with words
but with feeling,
bliss flooding and blind,
carrying us where
there was no real evidence
that could be proved,
only the mute testimony
of the blood.
