Start with Roses --poem by Dorothy
Start with Roses
Start with roses.
No matter if they have become
almost a cliché
available in
every garden.
Don’t worry that every bride
and bridesmaid
that you have ever known
carried them up the aisle.
Don’t fret that often divas receive
huge armfuls from the stage.
Sometimes whole gardens
are nothing but roses.
On certain occasions
their petals are strewn
over the dead.
Roses have many meanings:
Christ in cathedral windows,
the final secret for those
who dabble
in occult realms.
For Dante, the rose was the emblem
of heaven itself.
Go there,
become a rose.
