I Read a Sacred Poem––poem by Dorothy
I Read a Sacred Poem
I open to a sacred text.
Already a sweetness
flows in my bones.
There are dishes waiting,
tasks begging to be attended to.
I ignore all promptings.
I want only to be here,
with my Lord,
the one written about
in books,
the one with the fiery locks
who lives inside me.
