The Waiting Room
The Waiting Room
No matter what I had planned,
this is the way
it has turned out.
At this juncture,
I am not even certain
what it was I might
have wished for,
or foreseen.
No money and fame.
Thoreau early disobliged me
of that.
No quest for notoriety.
Instead a seeming hidden life.
So now I am here,
in this moment,
pleasant surroundings,
a useful occupation
(my contribution)
perhaps the waiting room
for the next chapter,
a final unfolding.
