These Beings––poem by Dorothy
These Beings
Who are these beings
coming to earth
from places unknown?
Each culture
has met them,
from Greece to India and Japan,
the deserts of Africa,
the natives of our own shores.
Evidence in ancient carvings on rock,
megalithic stone monuments
of incalculable weight.
Who were they? Why did they come?
Are they still arriving,
these beings from elsewhere in space?
What is our connection,
the purpose of our link?
Are they here
to usher in our future,
connect us to
our past?
How can we credit
such unbelievable tales
from ancient times?
How can we deny
such present accounts of
sacred encounters?
Our world
is unfathomable.
We live in the center
of mystery,
as if the gods
arrived here in the past
and are among us now.
Are they our kin?
