What is Enlightenment?

What is Enlightenment?

There has been much talk of late about Enlightenment.  Certain teachers offer to lead students to that highly desired goal through classes, workshops, writings and other methods.  All of this leads to the perpetual question, "What is Enlightenment?"

Enlightenment does not make you run faster, win more prizes, get the promotions you seek.  It does not help you gain success in the world, live in a bigger house, or buy a fancier car.

Enlightenment has to do with a fundamental realization that is easy to summarize, hard to comprehend.  Enlighenment happens when you know, fully and without question, that  "It"––whether you call it God or Limitless Energy or the Infinite Field of Love––is all there is.  It is the final reality, the ultimate truth and you are a wee particle of that overwhelming incomprehensible essence.  You and it are one, but you participate it only in an infinitely limited sense.  You thus are God knowing Him/Her self (and all the versions in between) in a very particular and unique way.  There is no other "you" and you will ultimately vanish, like a bubble on the tip of a fountain's jet.  Yet, for now you exist and indeed are real, the living embodiment of God's manifestation in human form.

Your job is thus to know the reality of who you are and to feel that truth in your very bones.  Kundalini operates as the trigger to bring you to that realization not by thought but by experience of the divine energy.  God exists as ecstasy and we are sometimes allowed to partake of this divine bliss flow.  God is bliss and so are we if we will allow ourselves to be infused with Divine Love.  Even in the midst of chaos.  Even when the external world is breaking apart.  Even when we ourselves cannot see the next step forward.

Something is reshaping us, taking us to a new, higher level, a purer, more resplendent version of that which we have been .  It is happening even now, even as we speak.

Who knows what we may become under the new dispensation?  That which is unfathomable is guiding the process.  It is a current carrying us to an unknown destination, the next stage in our journey to be more consciously one with divinity.
