How to Dress for God
How to Dress for God
If you think you are going
to heaven
in your fancy car
or your private jet,
forget it.
Even your GPS
will not take you
to the place you are seeking.
The road to the other world
is paved with rocks
and rubble.
Those who arrive there
come with broken knees
and tears on their cheeks.
The are not wearing
linen suits
and designer dresses.
They are clad in flannel
shirts
and plain woolen trousers.
They may be wearing
worn out shoes.
Yet they are the ones
for whom the portals swing open
as the angel smiles on them
and bids them welcome.
