This Man (Pavarotti)
Is this a human
being or an arrival
from some other planet
where music is restrung
to another frequency,
the domain of the sublime,
or perhaps a god or angel singing
through this chosen vessel,
flowing from
the mortal agent
he has partnered with
to let us hear.
And so we surrender
whatever it was
we thought we were
and become just this,
bliss stream from elsewhere,
celestial resonance.

We listen humbly,
transfigured by what we
cannot explain,
carried on its currents
into the infinite
we cannot define.
