Your Words––poem by Dorothy
Your Words
Your words,
too beautiful
to be understood,
cling like shadows
to the corridors of my mind,
echoing through
the halls of my soul,
awakening my body in each secret place
as if this were
the last day of listening.
I looked everywhere for you
attic and basement
and all in between,
even in the garden
with its early blooms,
but always came up
with empty hands,
Once I was someone
who thought I knew what it was
I was seeking,
and then everything turned
and I became the thing
I was looking for.
