Transforming––poem by Dorothy
Transforming
It is said that in ancient India the yogis underwent extreme austerities and purifications so that they would be ready to receive the intense energies that would come to them when they fully awakened.
I don't know what to say about it,
really.
I just know that I
feel different, breathe different,
know more.
What does it mean
to move your fingers
in imperceptible motions
and send sweet thrills
down to your feet?
How can you circle your hands
near your body
and awaken bliss in each place?
What is ecstasy?
What is bliss?
What is the source
of the great light within?
Who are we
that we are enabled
to receive such blessings?
How is it that each cell,
each muscle and covering
is turning to its own
essence of gold?
Who are the overseers,
planning and conducting
this metamorphosis?
All they require of us
is openness, a willingness
to receive.
They are doing the rest.
It is going on everywhere.
How can we withstand
such intensities,
these frequencies of love?
